Meet Cane!
Cane is no stranger to WCAS, this is his third visit to our facility in less than a year. He first arrived at WCAS in March of 2024 as an owner surrender due to his owner citing that they could no longer afford to care for Cane. After a month in our care, Cane was adopted, but just 10 days after leaving, Cane found himself back at WCAS as a stray. Cane's adopter quickly arrived to reclaim him, but 8 months later, Cane arrived at our facility again as a stray. This time, however, his adopter did not show up to reclaim Cane.
Our staff did a dog intro with Cane and another dog and shared that both dogs didn't show much interest in each other through the fence, but once they met face to face they were very friendly with each other. Cane is not high energy, but approached the other dog with a puppy mentality. They ran around the yard off leash and were sniffing and checking things out together. Cane also responded very well to correction the few times it was given.
In our time with Cane we have learned he has impeccable dog manners. Cane helps us evaluate other dogs during play sessions.
Due to Cane's long time search for a forever home they're part of the "Lonely Hearts Club" meaning that a portion of their adoption fee has been covered by the WCAS Auxiliary! And, even better news, the rest of Cane's adoption fee has been sponsored!
