WCAS Returning to Past License Tag Style Due to Global Shipping Disruptions

Jan 18, 2022 | WCAS News

Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) will be returning to the past pet license tag style for 2022 pet registrations. This license tag style, which is a flat, stamped aluminum tag, was last used by WCAS in 2018.  In 2019, WCAS transitioned to a new tag style; however, due to global shipping disruptions, WCAS would not receive these tags in time for the 2022 new year.

A current Winnebago County registration tag and rabies vaccination is required by law for all cats and dogs and is an important part of responsible pet ownership. Pet registration also helps to reunite pets with their owner in the event they become lost, as a current registration provides the information needed to connect lost pets to their owner.

Veterinarians in Winnebago County sell the County registration tag when pets receive their annual rabies vaccination. Winnebago County residents can also register their pet at Winnebago County Animal Services located at 4517 North Main St.
